DGA

Danish Gambling Authority

One of Europe's strictest regulators. Small licensed operator pool but the ones that survive are among the best-run.

Regulator: Spillemyndigheden · Country: Denmark

Overview

Denmark opened its market in 2012 after a state-monopoly period. Operators serving Danish residents must be licensed by Spillemyndigheden; unlicensed operators are ISP-blocked. Licensed operator pool is small (~30 casino operators, ~10 sportsbook operators) but tightly supervised. ROFUS is the mandatory self-exclusion register — one-click sitewide.

Player protections in place

  • ROFUS: mandatory sitewide self-exclusion register
  • Deposit limits required at account creation
  • Reality checks at defined session lengths
  • RG intervention framework similar to UKGC
  • AML compliance to EU + Danish standards
  • RTP publication mandatory on every game

How to file a complaint

Contact operator first. Formal complaints via Spillemyndigheden portal. Independent ADR available via Center for Ludomani for gambling-harm cases.

Red flags to watch

  • Any operator serving Danish players without a DGA licence — this is blocked and unprotected
  • Bonus terms that vary between Danish and non-Danish players — a compliance red flag

Typical player-side issues

  • ROFUS misregistration disputes
  • Deposit-limit enforcement questions

Our take

DGA is a strong signal. Small operator pool means fewer choices but higher baseline quality.
