How Cascading Reels works
When a winning combination lands, the winning symbols disappear and new symbols cascade down from above to fill the empty positions. This creates a second spin without an additional bet — and potentially chains further. NetEnt's Gonzo's Quest (2011) established the mechanic. Now nearly universal on modern grid slots and common on 5-reel paylines too. Also called "avalanche," "tumbling," or "drop-and-fill."
