Sticky vs non-sticky bonus
The single biggest T&C distinction for bonus EV — whether the bonus amount itself can be withdrawn or not.
Also known as: sticky bonus vs non-sticky
The most important structural distinction in bonus T&C, and one many players miss.
Non-sticky bonus (also called “cashable”):
- Once you complete wagering, both the bonus amount and any winnings are withdrawable.
- Standard for most welcome bonuses today.
- EV analysis on our site assumes non-sticky by default.
Sticky bonus:
- The bonus amount cannot be withdrawn under any circumstances. Only winnings above the bonus amount are withdrawable.
- Example: €100 deposit + €100 sticky bonus. Wager through, bankroll ends at €300. You can withdraw €200 (deposit + €100 profit above sticky). The €100 sticky is discarded.
- Effectively halves the value of a same-headline offer.
How to identify: T&C language. Watch for “bonus balance is not withdrawable”, “bonus funds are locked”, “wagering deducts bonus first”. If unclear, ask support before depositing.
The rest of the industry has largely moved away from sticky bonuses; they remain common in some crypto casinos and older operators. Filter them out at the bonus table.
